Peer Support
Peer Support Specialists are experienced in recovery and provide encouragement and support to individuals as they work toward person-centered recovery. A Peer Support Specialist is a family member and/or individual who has received or is presently receiving behavioral health services. Certified Peer Support Specialists use their life experiences in combination with formal training recognized by the Mississippi Department of Mental Health to help individuals navigate through community resources and work toward recovery as well as life goals. Peer Support Specialists utilize Recovery Support Plans (Home, Health, Community, and Purpose) and Wellness Recovery Action Plans to help individuals recover from mental illness and/or substance abuse.
